Lead / Asbestos / Metals Kit

Test the thing itself, not the air around it.

Coming soon
What it tests for
  • Lead, Cadmium, Chromium, Nickel, Mercury
  • Asbestos fibers (chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite + other regulated types)
Why it matters

Lead in old paint, imported ceramics, toys, and jewelry is a leading source of childhood lead poisoning - and there is no safe level. Cadmium and mercury add their own organ and neurological toxicity.

Asbestos fibers, when disturbed, cause mesothelioma, lung cancer, and asbestosis decades later. Older flooring, insulation, joint compound, and 'popcorn' ceilings are common hidden sources.

How to collect your sample

Use the scraping tool and gloves to collect a small sample of the item (paint, ceramic glaze, vinyl, insulation, etc.) into the jar. Double-bag and return.

How the lab analyzes it

Metals are acid-digested and run by ICP-MS. Suspected asbestos is identified by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), the standard method for distinguishing regulated asbestos fiber types.

Did you know
  • Asbestos is only dangerous when disturbed and made airborne - which is why you test the material before renovating, not after.
  • Imported and vintage ceramics can leach lead from their glaze into acidic foods and drinks.
The Sacred Sampling standard

Laboratory data — not estimates.

Independently operated, with no ties to filter or remediation companies. Every sample is analyzed by an accredited partner laboratory under EPA-referenced methods, with a documented chain of custody — and your data is yours.
