Chloride is a taste-and-corrosion flag: elevated levels signal road-salt runoff, a failing water softener, or seawater/septic intrusion, and accelerate corrosion of pipes and fixtures (which can, in turn, mobilize metals).
Fluoride is protective for teeth at about 0.7 mg/L, but naturally high groundwater fluoride - or an over-adjusted supply - can cause dental and, at higher chronic levels, skeletal fluorosis. Pairing minerals with the full metals panel gives a fuller picture from one bottle.
